We're playing a mod from a 2004 game in 2018 SO and hardware slightly older, things such as time outs are unpredictable indeed, but crash? that's not only unpredictable, but expected, and will happen, the issue here is, some people get punished for something which is quite expected at some cases, so there must be a method to make amends for these situations..
By the way, the possibility of returning to the URL before it ends sounds nice, and can even the situation 66% of the times, so I bellieve it's also a good response to this problem
