Discussion: Method for user voting about best looking cars

tl:dr -> the voting on last event got much hate, please post your idea about better voting.

As many of you know, and saw, the voting method we had on the last tuning meet-up event wasn't the best one.
We tried to find something very simple that doesn't take long, to keep the voting kind of quick in case some people don't have much time left (different timezones).

Sadly it still took long for Nexoon and me to sort out 15 out of over 100 cars for the user voting.
Also many people didn't like our decision of the "clean tuning style", which means, not many visible vinyls. Many players got mad about some cars from the list.

Now we want to find a new and better method to let you (the players) vote for the cars on such an event.
It would be good if the list would be instantly created without any pre-selection from other people. A list with all players that want to participate, then everyone can vote directly.

So, which ideas do you got for a better voting? Post it here, and we will discuss about it.

Of course it also has to work out somehow quick and without much loading. I thought about making a screenshot of all players that want to participate (only one car) and then upload it on a list like this time, but without picking "the best" out of all. But it would take too much time to do all the screenshots and upload them. But we could do it a few days before the event starts and voting gets published. Any other ideas?

Simple. everyone who wants to participate tell the staff of the event about it.
Then we have list of like 50-100 cars. And then all the people votes for 5-10 best cars in their opinion. Can't vote for yourself. The car which have the most votes wins.
The problem is, how to organize it technically.
Can you make such a thing in strawpoll? Because voting like this on chat or something wont work.
I think its good idea, everyone would be happy. But the technical side... ehh...

It's how we wanted to do it first. But it would make an amazingly big mess while driving to each car and checking it out.
We also thought about lining up the cars that are in the voting and let other players drive along them to check them out, but the line would be to big and the players that are on the list couldn't check out the others.

I think it has to be something with screenshots.
One of my crew members suggested to ask everyone for own screenshots of the car, who wants to participate. And forbid ENB Series, other mods and photoshoped pics. (people have to bring their car to the event to proof its not photoshoped). Then post a big voting list with all cars and pics and let everyone vote. Some real time mapping like placing fenced and gates would make a more organized parking. Needs scripting, but it's easy.

maybe we need a built-in voting only accessible to mods?
Once mods+ calls a voting session nearby players will notified about it, within certain range (defined by mods+, could be useful if there's real-time scanner to make sure everyone wanted in inside). In case a random guy sneaks in you could probably deselect that player (from real-time scanner list). quite complex to build I think, but once it's done, it's gonna greatly help the meetups getting smoother. My idea is build this system on top of right-click interaction mode.

also, if modelers are free enough (which they ain't right now), they can build a specialized car show area alongside meetup system. If you think this is a good idea I might make some details about it.

BTW: I think there should be meetups on another timezone, I never got into meetups thanks to this...

also: I think UI needs optimization (NOT DESIGN), as some parts are quite messed up and got missed out by newbies.

Not a bad idea, but how do you want everyone to see the cars of the participants? They got no pics and everyone would need to drive around to check out the cars and that would create a big chaos.

I think it's cooler if the meet-ups stay inside the GTA SA map, the charm is nicer and fits more to the NFS "San Andreas" style.
Except Venom or someone else would do some high quality shit with nice textures. Maybe a nice garage from a movie like Tokyo Drift (ofc it's not gta or nfs likely, but still cool enough for a meet-up. But it also needs to have enough room for 80-120 cars or more (depends if people would come to such an event again).

I'm planning to let other team mates organize such an event in their timezone. But it was just an idea in my mind, still have to plan and talk with them.

What exactly do you mean? If it's nothing related to the event / topic, then post it into the new suggestions sub-forum.

Bump
We still need a good idea for the voting, so we can start to plan and organize the next one soon.

Two ways for now:

either set up the freerun camera for viewing all those players (which is planned)

OR

build the new system just like NFSW's player info system. shows cars and all the data stuffs. My guess is it's quite unlikely as these stuffs needs to updated real-time.
If that's manageable, that could be useful in other sections (i.e. post race/pre race etc).

Build inside the map then. I knew there's servers which build car meet areas on top of seas, which makes no sense after all.

Probably made one from absolute scratch, in desert areas or somewhere else.
or,
Modify any of the parking lots available, there's plenty of 'em inside LV especially.

can't you do polls on the forum?
just make it so and whoever votes for himself gets disqualified

Max amount of options would be 10 (means I can only add 10 players into one poll)
