Yes, maybe cutscene would be too much, but sms messages would fit perfectly into the game.

So um, I'll just put mine as an example :p

Hello, my suggestion is obvious and well known in nfs series. I think a lot of players would like to see some kind of freeroam progression, where we could find race areas all over the map. You go there and you race. Races could be connected with some kind of story(writen one), maybe as comics like in old nfs games, or just sms messages. I think it would make players spend more time driving around the map and discovering new races instead of standing next to garage.
How would it work?:
-You have to drive somewhere to start story race.
-Once you start it, race appears on custom race page in menu, where every player(or players with similar car level as ours) are able to join.
-After you finish it, you get some more $ and rep than normally.
-New races appear on the map with your progression, first ones are easier and shorter, later ones would be harder and longer(more $ and rp).

It would be good way to unlock some stuff like visual parts for example bumpers or spoilers instead of spending body points to unlock best parts.
