For me this game is not Dark Souls so it should be available to casuals as well. Also skill doesnt really matter in this case. Just imagine 4 top racers racing together. One of them will inevitably be last and get nothing, despite being very skilled. I dont like that. And even if this guy wins the next race, then someone else will be sacrificed and get nothing.
As for mananas in URL, I can assure you that the day before yesterday I had dyno on it and a perfect racing line, didnt crash at all and went as fast as I could go. Did it help? Not at all, finished 3rd because SGTs were almost making a lap on me. Thats just not normal. And I was 3rd only because nobody else had SGTS, people behind me had normal cars like me. Was I satisfied with my position and rewards? Kind of yes, it was decent and worth it. Was I satisfied that some poor soul did all these long races for nothing? Absolutely not. I dont want others to suffer because Im better, especially since I know how it feels to do a long URL to get nothing.
Lastly, what Im suggesting here is not "everyone wins", but "everyone gets paid for their work". Giving someone almost 0 rewards after spending time and effort in a race is not fair (unless its a 30 second long race or something). And you know what? Almost every single racing game out there has it the same way. Especially MMO-ish games like The Crew. Im a player of The Crew 1, which has the system Im suggesting, and theres plenty of competition, especially for top times and medals in the championships. And as I said this is normal in racing games, its not an exception so clearly its paying off.
Hardcore gameplay will only cater to the niche group of hardcore players (minority). What we need is getting the mainstream here, not the extremes. Actually we need everyone in here, but if we have to choose between minority and majority, we must choose majority in order to make multiplayer function properly and get this project started. As soon as races become fun for more than just hardcore players and tryhards, popularity will rise.
Anyway, if you wanna spend your time somewhere else than this topic, suit yourself. Good luck and have fun wherever you go.
