I can tell you about an interesting theory in NFS Carbon.

Career intro: Lookout Point and Cross. We've been caught and driven to San Juan. But how did we get there?

Lookout Point is in the East Canyon, near to the Downtown Palmont. Check out this beta map:

LP is connected with Palmont. Is it only visible on this map? Fortunately, no.

Do you see this road on right? Yeah, that's probably a leftover from beta. And this road has been used to get from Lookout Point to San Juan.
Check out this sketch (yeah, MS Paint):

San Juan's location is visible from some canyons in the game, that's why I placed it there.
And how does this road look in the official release? Well, it's just a railway line.
I think it's quite interesting, especially as it wasn't published anywhere (excepting mostwantedbooks.pl and MW Book's channel on YouTube).
